Questions About Therapy

    • How often should I book sessions?
While many studies have shown that a higher frequency of therapy sessions tends to lead to better outcomes, how often you should book sessions really depends on you. Some individuals enjoy weekly or twice-weekly sessions, while others find they need more time in-between sessions to integrate and process. If you prefer a particular day or time I suggest you book several sessions on Jane to secure your spot (or talk to me and we can do this together).
You can always change how often you book sessions-in fact I find there is a natural progression to less sessions as therapy is continued. We might start with sessions once a week, and then move to every two weeks, and then eventually every month, and then eventually to a check in once in a while or to the discontinuation of therapy.

    • What if there are no times available that work for me?
If you can’t find a spot that works for you there are two option available:
          1) You can add yourself to a waitlist on Jane (if someone cancels I will book you in for their spot).
2)You can email me and we can try to find a time that works.

    • What is your policy around emailing?
I suggest trying to stick to emailing me about scheduling. Sometimes clients will email me artwork, or a dream they want to work with in their session-this is fine but please be aware that email is never fully safe and there is always a possibility that what you send me might be intercepted. If you email me something that is not schedule related I must put it in your progress notes. Sometimes between sessions you might feel like you need to tell me something, in this case I suggest you write it down and bring it up during your next scheduled session.

    • How should I prepare for our session?
Please make sure you check your internet connection and your technology before our session starts. I suggest having a pen and paper close by, or some art materials if that feels right. Some clients like to have a list of things they want to talk about, which can be helpful but is not necessary. The psyche will lead us to wherever it is we need to go. It’s normal to feel a bit nervous before your session. This is a great opportunity to check in with yourself and ask yourself if you have any fears or concerns about the session or therapy process.

Will therapy be covered by insurance?
This really depends on you insurance company and your policy. Some policies cover me and others don’t. I recommend reaching out and double checking with your insurance company before booking a consultation. My CCPA number is: #10004051
If you are covered you will be asked to pay for your session and I will provide you with a receipt which you can use for reimbursement.
